National Trade Free Zone is the bonded logistics and trade hub at the heart of the Geda Special Economic Zone — on the Addis Ababa–Djibouti railway, beside the Modjo Dry Port, with customs on site. We move goods through the border faster, more cheaply and more reliably than the conventional corridor.
Who we are
National Trade Free Zone (NTF) is the first and only bonded-trading enterprise operating inside the Geda Free Trade Zone — a 24,000-hectare special economic zone near Modjo, about 70 kilometres south-east of Addis Ababa.
We combine a modern 10,000 m² warehouse, a 16,000 m² open compound and an on-site customs office at one of the most strategic logistics points in the country — directly on the Addis Ababa–Djibouti Standard Gauge Railway and beside the Modjo Dry Port. NTF is a company of the National Investment Group.
What we do
We store imported goods under customs bond. Customers pay import duties only when goods leave for the local market — not when they arrive — freeing up their cash and removing weeks of delay.
We receive, store, track and release goods for other businesses, using a digital Warehouse Management System and electronic cargo tracking so every pallet is accounted for.
We import and supply selected fast-moving goods on our own account — starting with electric-vehicle assembly kits, then construction materials, commodities and machinery.
With customs on-site, we clear and release goods inside the zone — without the long wait at the dry port that every other importer endures.
Our advantage
Goods arrive by rail straight into the zone, next to the dry port and on the expressway. The corridor from Djibouti runs through our front door.
Clearance happens inside the zone. What used to take more than 40 days at the dry port can be done in under 15 — the single biggest reason customers choose us.
Customers do not pay the heavy import-tax stack until they sell — keeping a large share of a shipment's value working in their business instead of locked at the border.
As a free-zone operator we keep 100% of the foreign currency we earn and benefit from a reduced company-tax regime — advantages we pass through to our partners.
